Maureen Frances (Murphy) Macfarlane, age 85, of Oxford, beloved wife the late John Robert Macfarlane, entered into rest peacefully on Friday September 20, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport, CT., on December 31, 1938. the daughter of the late David and Irene (Hubbard) Murphy. Maureen worked as a Floor Manager for Kmart Department Store, prior retirement. She has been an Oxford resident for the past 60 years. Maureen was an avid homemaker, she loved tinkering and gardening, but most of all she loved being with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.

Maureen’s loving family includes her son William Macfarlane of Oxford, two daughters Sherry Lake of Waterbury and Kimberly Macfarlane and wife Kelley Sennstrom of The Villages, FL., three sisters Kathleen Hyatt spouse Kathy Delaney and Noreen Murphy all of The Villages, FL., and Patricia Ann Peterson spouse Clinton Peterson of North Carolina, her sister-in-law Marie Murphy of Beacon Falls , five grandchildren Michael, Amanda , Christopher, Sarah and Matthew, three great-grandsons Tyler, Nathan and Damien , and several nieces and nephews. Maureen also leaves behind her beloved dog Bubba Louie. She was predeceased by her three brothers Kevin R. Murphy, Patrick J. Murphy and David T. Murphy.


Inurnment will be private in the Circle Niche at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour, with Reverend Thomas Cieslikowski, Pastor of Church of the Good Shepherd of St. Nicholas Parish, officiating. There were no calling hours.
