William “Bud” Baxter, 87, of Seymour CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 30, 2024.

Bud was born on December 27, 1936, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of the late William and Ethel Baxter. Bud attended high school In Jersey City, NJ and was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, where he served several years in Japan.

Bud worked as an Electrical Engineer for several companies over the years and spent the majority of his career at Bunker Ramo, ADP and General Data Com. Bud developed different technologies and held several patents. Bud was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He was an active member of the Derby Elks and served at one time as the Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the American Legion. Bud spent many hours researching his Irish family roots and belonged to numerous genealogy organizations. He was also a parishioner at St Nicholas Parish in Seymour.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gail Baxter. His daughter, Patricia Allen and her husband Richard of Bonita Springs, FL and East Dennis, MA. His son Richard Baxter and his wife Nicolina of Wolcott, CT. His four grandsons, Zachary Allen and his fiancée Micayla McQuade of Manhattan Beach CA, Matthew Baxter and his wife Erin of Wolcott CT, Joshua Allen of Providence, RI and Patrick Baxter of Wolcott, CT. Bud also leaves his 2-week-old Great Grandson Benjamin Baxter of Wolcott, CT. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bud was predeceased by his brother John Baxter and his wife Alma of Hawthorne, NJ.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Buds life on July 08, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour CT 06483. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at 1:00PM at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the State Veterans Cemetery Perpetual Care fund@https://portal.ct.gov/dva/donations/veterans-donation-overview or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to thank the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital and especially our newly found angel Victoria for her exceptional care of Bud on his final journey.
