Alfred Thompson

Alfred Walter Thompson, age 82, of Oxford, formerly of Stamford, the beloved husband of 42 years of the late Virginia Thompson, entered into rest peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was born in Darien on November 25, 1928, son of the late Robert and Anna Slaninka Thompson. Alfred proudly served his country as a member of the Air National Guard of New York and as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve, being honorably discharged on December 7, 1955. He was an Auto Mechanic, working for Dom's AARCO of Stamford for many years. He moved to Oxford in 1989. Alfred enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of his garden. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Alfred's loving family includes his beloved daughter Sandra Thompson and her husband Victor Girardi of Oxford, his three devoted sisters Anna Fish, Rose Pucci and Evelyn Grzegorski, his two cherished grandchildren Richard Cleri and his wife Christina of Prospect and Amanda Criscuolo and her husband Ryan of Naugatuck, his cherished great-grandson Christian and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven of his brothers and sisters. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Alfred's life will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Rt. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
