Andrew Lloyd Matthews, age 80, of Oxford, the beloved husband of Carol Panda Matthews, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was born in Oxford on July 23, 1940, beloved son of the late Michael and Anna Mankulics Matthews. Andy was a communicant of the St. Peter and St. Paul Church of Ansonia and was a retired Construction Superintendent for the Merritt Construction Company of Bridgeport where he had worked for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Union 210 of Bridgeport. Andy was an Associate Member of the Connecticut Chapter 11 of the Blue Knights and the American Kennel Club. He had the honor of not only being a past President and Lion Tamer of the Seymour Lions Club, but was also their oldest serving member. Andy loved the outdoors and was very active in his community. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and many friends. Andy will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family in addition to his beloved wife Carol includes three sons Randy Matthews (Kathleen) of Seymour, Scott Matthews (Denise) of Oxford and Russ Matthews of Seymour, his seven cherished grandchildren Alyssa Matthews, Kristopher Matthews, Kolin Matthews, Kameron Matthews, Andy Matthews, Jeff Jones and Thomas Jones, his five cherished great grandchildren Noel Matthews, Jonathan Matthews, Kooper Matthews, Kenzie Matthews and Cortney Barden and several loving nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his beloved brothers Art and Michael Matthews. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Andrew's Life will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Ansonia at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, through the funeral home. Cemetery Details At conveinance of the family
