Andrew Praskevich, age 89, of Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Vilma Culik Praskevich, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was born in Ansonia on December 12, 1925, son of the late John and Esther Kocio Praskevich. Andrew was a devout communicant and Head Usher of the Church of the Good Shepherd and was a long time employee of BF Goodrich prior to his retirement from Ansonia Copper and Brass. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Walter Brown (DE-258) and the USS Underhill (DE-682) earning the Purple Heart and numerous other awards and decorations. Andrew was a member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion of Seymour, a past member of the St. Michael Post Catholic War Vets and the St. Sebastian's Club. He was also a 55 year member of the Great Hill Hose, Co. of Seymour and was a member of The Irregulars/RFD. Andrew will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and will remain forever in their hearts. His loving family includes his four loving daughters Andrea Walls (Dan) of Prather, CA, Barbara Kearney (Michael), Patricia Praskevich and Linda Buckner, all of Seymour, his four cherished grandchildren Nicole Yesne (Jeffery), Kristine Princevalli, Kimberly Princevalli and Daniel Buckner, his seven cherished great-grandchildren Alexia Steeves, Ashlee Princevalli and Joshua, Stephanie, Peter, Andrew and McKenzie Yesne, his cherished great-great granddaughter Kaitlynn Yesne and several nieces and nephews. Andrew was predeceased by his brothers William and Michael Praskevich and his sisters Lillian and Mary Praskevich and Ann Cerritelli. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Andrew's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment, with Full Military Honors Accorded will follow in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
