Anne B. Belske

Anne (Barrett) Belske, age 92, of Shelton, formerly of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Bishop Wicke Health Center, Shelton. Anne was born on August 6, 1931 in Scranton, PA, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Brann) Barrett. She was raised in Pittson, PA and Ansonia, CT and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Walter Belske. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Raphael's School of Nursing. As her children grew, she was a private duty nurse and worked many years in the Coronary Care Unit at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Anne was a devout communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Seymour. She belonged to the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She enjoyed being a ‘School Grandma' at Bungay School in Seymour, helping children with their reading skills. Anne volunteered as a Seymour Election Official and helped plan many Ansonia High School Class of 1949 reunions. For years she would play cards with the neighborhood women, fondly known as the ‘Jolly Nine'. She leaves her loving family, daughters Louise McMinn, Kathleen (Jack) Rup and Carol (Berney) Golden and sons Walter and James Belske. Also, eight Grandchildren, Greg (Miranda) and Christopher (Deanna) Belske, Kari (Chris Barr) McMinn, Kylie (Brock) Sheehan, John (Brittany) and Sarah Rup, and Brianna and Jeremy Golden. She has five great-grandchildren, Lydia and Jacob Belske, Lyla and Wyatt Sheehan, and William Rup. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Barrett, and two sisters, Joan Dube and Mary Joy Walsh. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Wednesday, Morning December 6, 2023 at The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Anne's life will follow at 10:30 am at in the Chapel of The Miller-Ward Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church of St. Nicholas Parish, 35 Washington Ave, Seymour. Interment will be held privately at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby CT in the family plot. Donations may be given to Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of your choice through the funeral home.
