Barbara Ferenc Matis, age 79, of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late John Edward Matis, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Poland on April 24, 1934, daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Radowski Ferenc. Barbara was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour and was a Nurse's Aide at Carolton Convalescent Home of Fairfield for many years. She loved to cook and loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara moved to Oxford from Southport 20 years ago. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Barbara's loving family includes her devoted sons Jack Matis and his wife Connie of Fairfield, Gary Matis and his wife Darray of Wilbraham, MA and David Matis of Oxford, her loving daughters Diane Curran and her husband Chris of Shelton and Wendy Siconoifi and her husband Tony of Stratford, her cherished grandchildren JP and his wife Kate and Kelly Matis, Kyle and Ryan Matis, Christopher, Sean, Lindsey Peatfield and her husband Kyle and Eric Curran and Joseph, Jon and Casey Siconoifi, her cherished great-grandchildren Carrig, Lily, Lane and Riley and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved brother Casimir Ferenc. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Memorial gifts in Barbara's memory may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Improvement Fund, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour, CT 06483.
