Charles Edward Rippel, Cheshire, CT, surrounded by love, entered eternal rest on August 5, 2023. Born in 1932 and raised in Bronx, NY, he was a lifelong kid from the Bronx. Predeceased by his loving wife (of 62 years) Dorothy, he is survived by his four children, Janet Rippel of Naugatuck, Diane Kalentek (Joseph) of Beacon Falls, Patricia Danielecki of Manhattan, and Chuck Rippel (Carolyn Buvel) of Hamden. He's also survived by his two grandchildren, the lights of his life, Olivia Kalentek and Alex Kalentek of Beacon Falls. He and Dorothy raised their family in Seymour, CT before retirement and moving to Southbury, CT and Cheshire, CT. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army (Private) and U.S. Navy Reserve (Seaman). He was a stone mason by trade for many years before a long career in manufacturing production management, but to him, his most important jobs were always husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He maintained the long term friendships he developed through his devotion to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cheshire Lutheran Church, the East End Yacht Club (where he served as Chaplain for 17 years), Quaker Farms Firehouse, the Housatonic Valley Civil War Roundtable, the Village @ Southwick, Heritage Village Monologues group, and countless other community organizations. He loved The New York Yankees, UCONN basketball, spending time with his family and friends, watching the Action Kid on YouTube, public speaking, and writing. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Great Hill Road, Oxford, CT followed by Interment at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour, CT.
