Christian Martin Dechent, Jr., age 86 , of Wolcott, the loving husband of 44 years to Nancy Arnold Dechent, entered into rest peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2019. He was born in Waterbury on February 11, 1933, loving son of the late Christian and Agnus Dechent. Christian was a graduate of Crosby High School and the University of Connecticut. He worked for the State of Connecticut for over 24 years. Christian loved golf, enjoyed spending time at the casino, the New York Yankees and UCONN basketball. He had a passion for music and would happily sing for everyone. Christian had a keen sense of humor and a smile for everyone he met as they immediately became his friend. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and many friends. Christian will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family in addition to his wife Nancy includes his daughter Heather Dechent of Wolcott and her five children Luka, Mateo, Daisy, Christian III and Dominic Benoit, his four step-daughters Marie Jurewicz of Phoenix, Arizona, Nancy Lushansky of Lake Park, Georgia, Elizabeth Force of Phoenix, Arizona and Rebecca White of Cheyenne, Wyoming and step-son Gary Everest, his friends Donna Czupryk and Dianne Cassidy, 31 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving daughter Amy. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Christian's life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at Hopeville Church, 160 Piedmont Street in Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Christian's memory may be made to the Hopeville Church, 160 Piedmont Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 Cemetery Details Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
