Dennis C. Miller

Dennis Conrad Miller, Retired Seymour Police Officer, 79, of Myrtle Beach SC formerly of Seymour, CT entered eternal rest peacefully at home December 15, 2023 after a brief illness. Dennis was born on February 19, 1944 to Carl and Hilda (Collins) Miller in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After graduating from Shelton High School in 1962 he went on to Sacred Heart University where he earned a degree in accounting. This began a wide-range of work experience. Dennis worked as an accountant for a short time and then had an appliance repair business, Miller Appliance. He then joined the Seymour Police Department as a supernumerary and was eventually hired full-time. He retired from the Seymour CT police department after 25 years of service. Once retired, he relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He worked part-time as an ambassador for The Market Commons where he would patrol and watch for the safety of the area. Dennis loved cars, riding motorcycles, spending time with family, friends and his many dogs throughout his life. Dennis was predeceased by his parents and son Dean Miller. He is survived by his wife Alyce and her children, his daughter Denyse Miller (John Rogers) and his grandchildren JJ and Daniel Rogers, siblings Carl J.Miller, III (Patricia) of Seymour, CT, Brian Miller (Valery) of Northford, CT, and Janice Miller- Schiappa and Kevin Miller both of Shelton. He also leaves his beloved dog, Summer. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home. On Friday, December 22, 2023, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held (Directly) at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church of St. Nicholas Parish, 135 Mountain Rd, Seymour, CT. Burial in Mountain Meadows Cemetery will follow. Donations may be made directly to the American Cancer Society either directly or through the funeral director.
