Southbury, CT - Donald David Dube, 80, of Southbury, formerly of Seymour, the beloved husband of Bernadine Brandon Dube, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 13 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby on June 1, 1930, son of the late Paul and Catherine Egan Dube. Donald was the former owner of Dube's Three River Campground of Pineville, MO, which he operated for 14 years with his brother, Jim. He was formerly employed as a Mechanical engineer for the BF Goodrich Company of Shelton and retired from the Energy Research Corporation of Danbury. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School Class of 1950 and also received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Norwalk State Technical Institute. He was a US Navy Veteran and served during the Korean conflict on the USS New Jersey and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the China Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Donald was a former member of the Webster Hose Company of Ansonia and was a member of their softball team. He is a communicant of St.Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford. He was a former member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Men's Club, Seymour. Donald loved food, family, friends and fun. He was an outdoor enthusiast and naturalist and loved cooking and gardening. In his early days Donald liked to bowl and play golf, and enjoyed neighborhood football games. His loving family, in addition to his caring wife, Bernadine, includes his devoted son, Richard D. Dube and his wife, Paula of Sutton, MA; his adoring daughters, Deborah Dube Pina and her husband, Frank Jr., of Jay, NY, Lorraine Dube Tennal and her husband, Chris, of Breckenridge, CO, his beloved brothers, Paul Dube of FL and John Dube of Bloomsburg, PA; a loving sister, Rosemary Deegan, of Seymour; two cherished granddaughters, Nikaila and Rachel Dube of Sutton, MA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his cherished sons, Douglas James Dube, David Brian Dube, and Kenneth Daniel Dube, his brother, James Dube and his sister, Margaret DeGennaro. The family wishes to thank all the staff of Yale-New HavenHospital for the wonderful care given to Donald and a special thank you to all our family for their love and support. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Donald's life will be held on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 at 9:00 am at The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, (Route 67 across from Klarides Village), Seymour, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT. Interment, with Full Military Honors accorded, will be in the family plot at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby, CT. Friends and relatives may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorial gifts in Donald's memory may be made to the St. Thomas the Apostle Church Memorial Fund through the Funeral Director, or to the charity of one's choice.
