Donald G. Kummer

Donald G. Kummer, age 70, of Bassett, Va., formerly of Seymour, CT., Beacon Falls, CT., and Searsport, Maine, the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann Bagley Kummer, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at The Franklin Healthcare, Rocky Mount, Virginia. He was born in Derby, on May 23, 1946, the son of the late George H. and Muriel Mallahan Kummer. Donald worked in construction building and remodeling homes. He has been a resident of Virginia for the past ten years. Donald enjoyed gardening and loved being with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family includes three daughters Laura (Greg) Bercik of Ferrum, Va., Lisa Kummer of Waterbury, CT., Holly (Jason) Bashura of Ellicott City, Md., a step-son Donald Donofrio, III of New York, and two brothers David N. (Alese) Kummer of Seymour and Robert H. (Denise ) Kummer of Waterbury, CT., five grandchildren Jordan, Matthew, MacKenzie , Jacob and Olivia, two step-grandchildren Karl and Joshua and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-daughter Cindy DeBiase. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Donald's Life will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, opposite Klarides Village) Seymour. Friends and relatives may call Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the family plot at Trinity Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial gifts in memory of Donald may be made to The Pancreatic Reaearch Fund @ John Hopkins Medical Institutions, through the funeral home.
