Dorothy Pianka

Dorothy Helen Pianka, age 85, of Southbury, the beloved wife of the late Valentine Pianka, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the home of her son in Oxford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Weehawken, NJ on June 11, 1925, beloved daughter of the late Leo Francis and Irene G. King Mullaly. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford. She was a retired Secretary for Dominican College in Blauvelt, NY where she had worked for many years. Dorothy loved to crochet, garden, loved her African Violets, enjoyed baking and loved to sew. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Dorothy's loving family includes her caring sons Peter Pianka and his wife Gisela of Wurtsboro, NY, Andrew Pianka, Esq. and his wife Lisa of Oxford and Paul Pianka and his wife Frida of Concord, NC, her loving daughter Maura Pianka of Cortland Manor, NY, her beloved brother Robert Mullaly and his wife Diana of Hilton Head Island, SC, her three cherished grandchildren Melissa Pianka of Hamden, John Hogerheide and his wife Vicky of San Antonio, TX and Joseph Hogerheide of Leland, NC and several loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 9:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 260 Bank St (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Internment, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
