Edna Susan Samokar Fiftal, 95, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Edward M. Fiftal, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at her home. She was born in Derby on November 23, 1916, beloved daughter of the late Adam and Amelia Samokar. Edna was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour. She founded Ed's Restaurant with her husband, Edward, in 1956, and retired in 1987. She was an avid homemaker, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking at the restaurant. Edna was well-known for her food preparation. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America of St. Augustine Church, Seymour. She loved being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Her loving family includes her caring daughters Marilyn Miller and her husband, Robert, of Trumbull, Jacqueline Grosberg and her husband, Jack, of Oxford; four cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lauren Grosberg and Brian and Alyssa Miller; several loving nieces and nephews and several cherished grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Jennie Jachimowski and Bertha Samokar. A Funeral Service in celebration of Edna's life will be held on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2012 at 10:15 am at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (across from Klarides Village), Seymour, with a Mass of Christian to follow at 11:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the procession leaves for Mass. Interment in the family plot at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Memorial gifts in Edna's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or through the Funeral Director.
