Eileen McCusker, age 91, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 25 years to the late Henry J. McCusker, entered into rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Brooklyn on August 29, 1924, daughter of the late Elsie and Arthur Scherl. Eileen worked for many years as a Receptionist in the Dental Clinic at the VA Hospital in West Haven. She was a world traveler, a volunteer at Griffin Hospital, loved to bowl and was very active in her church. Most of all, Eileen loved to help people in need, especially children who had nothing. She was a loving and caring soul who will be missed by her family and friends and will remain forever in their hearts. Eileen's loving family includes her daughter Kathleen Lochowski and her husband Chester from Cheshire, her three cherished grandchildren Stephanie, Rachel and TJ, her brother Gene Scherl of Rockaway Beach, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Scherl and her sister Mildred Ryan. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Eileen's life will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 9:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am at the Cornerstone Assembly of God, 656 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will follow at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Eileen's memory may be made to the Seymour Land Conservation Trust through the funeral home.
