Eleanor Demaio Mihalcik

Eleanor (Ellie) DeMaio Mihalcik, age 83, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Robert F. Mihalcik Sr., entered into eternal rest on Friday. November 23, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was born in New Haven, on October 16, 1929, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Anna Parlato DeMaio. Ellie graduated from Commercial High School Class of 1947. She was a secretary for Nationwide Insurance from 1950-1957. She was a Health Aide having worked for the Seymour Board of Education from 1974 - 1997. She was the past president of the Chatfield PTA from 1970-1972, as well as the past president for the Seymour Women's Club from 1972-1974, the past president for the Seymour American Field Service Chapter from 1974 - 1976, the past president for the Seymour Aide's Association Union. Ellie was very active in Seymour politics and served as secretary for the Seymour Board of Ethics from 1974 -1980. She was the Chairwoman for the Seymour Board of Assessors in 1979, she also served as the Town Chairwoman for the Seymour Republican Town Committee from 1982-1989. Ellie was a devout communicant of St. Augustine Church, Seymour. She was an avid homemaker and a great conversationalist. She loved being with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family includes three caring sons Robert F. Mihalcik Jr. of Shelton, Richard F. Mihalcik of Burlington, and Joseph Mihalcik of Seymour, three loving daughters-in-laws Mimi, Michelle and Susan, four cherished grandchildren Matthew, Julianne, Jared and Kristen Mihalcik, several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers Salvatore DeMaio, Jr., Frank DeMaio, and Vincent DeMaio, and five loving sisters Lucy Esposito, Jennie DeMaio, Ann Ciarlone, Angelina DeMaio and Erma Juliano. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 29 , 2012 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Augustine Church 35 Washington Ave., Seymour. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour will follow. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, November 28 , 2012 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, (Route 67, opposite Klarides Village), Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Ellie's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,TN 38105.
