Florence Mae Garrett

Florence Mae Garrett, age 82, of West Hempstead, NY, formerly of Seymour, the beloved wife of 48 years to the late Charles J. Garrett, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017. She was born in Shelton on August 24, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Belske Bienkowski. Florence received a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Connecticut. She was a long time teacher in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. She loved to read and garden and also sang in the church choir. Florence loved to volunteer to help out those in need, and volunteered as a tutor in both public and private schools. She will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her two sons James Garrett and his wife Allison of Oxford and John Garrett and his wife Sandra of East Hempstead, NY, her daughter Elizabeth Garrett and her husband Martin of San Francisco, her six grandchildren Caleb, Connor, Aidan, Amy, Jennifer and Jason and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Florence's Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, CT. Interment in the family plot will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial donations in Florence's memory may be made to St. Michael Church, through the funeral home.
