Francis "Frank" Michael Synos, age 79, of Oxford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday December 5, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Barbara (Dudik) Synos. Frank was born at Griffin Hospital in Derby on October 9, 1942. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Michaeline (Cwanek) Synos and his sister Dolores Deptula. Frank was a devout communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford. He was a lifelong resident of the Valley, growing up in Shelton, graduate of Shelton High School class of 1960. He was employed at Avco Lycoming and Bunker Ramo, later starting his own landscaping business, "Lawn Care Plus". After retiring he worked for Haynes Materials, which was the job he enjoyed most. He took great pride in driving "his" truck, participating in the local holiday parades and taking pictures at Ace Hardware with Santa. He leaves behind his two cherished daughters, Karen (Eric) Zodl of Oxford and Lauren (William) Daniels of Oxford. He also leaves behind three adored grandchildren who meant the world to him, Emma and Evan Daniels and Abigail "Abby" Zodl all of Oxford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Frank loved sports and was a lifelong NY Yankees fan. His hobbies and interests included watching the UConn girls, photography, golf, bowling, softball and horseshoes. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and special friends. He took great pride in his home, ensuring his lawn and gardens always looked their best. He was well known in town and could usually be found at Dunkin Donuts, every afternoon, enjoying his small hot coffee with friends. Whether you knew him as Frank, Frankie, Dad, Poppie, Pops, Papa Frank, Uncle Frank, Moe, Mr. Synos, Fish, etc., once he met you and you got to know him, he quickly became a friend. He loved life and treasured his family and extended family, which never seemed to stop growing. He was truly one of a kind. He will be sadly missed but always loved and remembered by many.
