Franklin A. Hoyt, age 88, of Seymour, the beloved husband of 66 years to Gwendolyn B. Hoyt, entered into rest peacefully on April 13, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 4, 1927, son of the late Archie and Georgiana (Gibbs) Hoyt and step father Edmund Trounson. Franklin proudly served his country as a member of the Merchant Marine from July 1945 through December 1945. He also served in the United States Army from October 1946 through March 1948 as a Military Police Officer in the 720th Military Police Battalion, Occupation Forces, Tokyo, Japan. Franklin was a long time employee of both Sikorsky and Schick Safety Razor. He was an avid photographer, enjoyed movies, listening to classical music and traveling New England. Most of all, Franklin loved spending time with his family and many friends and will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family in addition to his beloved wife Gwendolyn includes his daughter Pamela H. Waldron of Seymour, his daughter-in-law Alexandra Hoyt of Montana, his grandchildren Elizabeth (Justin) Clymer of Iowa, Amy (Howard) Hennessey of Colorado, Lisa (Robert) Reynolds of Beacon Falls, Howard D. Waldron, III of Vermont, Christine DuFour of Pennsylvania, Wayne M. Hoyt of Florida, Jonathon (Leah) Hoyt of Montana, Christopher Hoyt of Arkansas and Wayne Oliver Hoyt of Montana, and his 14 cherished great grandchildren. Franklin was predeceased by his son Wayne Franklin Hoyt. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Franklin's life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with Services to follow at 11:00 am at Grace Christian Community Church, 56 West Street, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Military Honors will be accorded by the members of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion of Seymour. Memorial gifts in Franklin's memory may be made to the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion through the funeral home.
