Harriett F. Danka, age 90, of Newtown, beloved partner of Everette (Ed) Brower, passed away on February 10, 2017 at Danbury Hospital. Harriett was born in Hartford on July 29, 1926 and spent her adolescent years in various orphanages. Curious about her birth family, she was unfortunately never able to uncover anything more than her known birth name, Macklin. Harriett retired from Bridgeport Metal Goods as a timekeeper and also held many jobs assisting others with shopping, cleaning, and caregiving throughout her community in Bridgeport, where she lived for many decades with her first husband, Alexander Danka, Sr. After Al's passing in 2006 she met her fianc, Ed Brower, and has been blissfully happy with him for the past decade. Harriett very much enjoyed thrift and antique shopping as well as visits from everyone in her family. Never short on sharing stories, she also made sure nobody went hungry while under her roof. Her beloved son, Alexander Danka, Jr., survived her for four days, unfortunately passing away from a terminal illness soon after Harriett's death. Now surviving Harriett are her dear son's wife, Donna Danka, her grandchildren Alexander Danka III and his wife Trisha, Kimberly McIntosh and her husband Jamie, Jason Danka and his fianc Laura, Melissa Danka and her fianc Rob, and Danielle Danka; step-grandsons Michael Sagnelli and David Witkowski; great-grandchildren Michael, Stephanie, and Melanie Danka, Kayla Gill, Emma and Jamie McIntosh Jr., Alyssa Danka, Kaedince and Jakob Danka. Harriett's first great-great-grandchild, Julian, is expected in March. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the medical staff of Danbury Hospital's 10th floor Progressive Care Unit for their excellent care and warm bedside manner during Harriett's final weeks. The family will receive friends to honor both Harriett's and her son, Alexander's (aka Rocky) lives on Saturday, February 25th from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour.
