Helen Sherwinsky

Helen Uzarski Sherwinsky, age 88, of Seymour, the loving wife of 53 years to the late Edward Sherwinsky, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was born in Derby on March 23, 1927, beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Irma Porga Uzarski. Helen was a lifelong resident of Seymour and a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She formerly worked for the Uniroyal Company of Naugatuck . Helen was very active with the Seymour Senior Center, serving as its president for many years. She was also an active member of the Polish Falcons and the Seymour Aging Committee. Helen enjoyed day trips, line dancing and going out to eat. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Helen will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Her family includes her loving son Mark Sherwinsky and his wife Susan of Shelton, her devoted daughter Diane Sherwinsky of Derby, her caring brother Thomas Uzarski and his wife Rose of Shelton, her caring sister in law Marilyn Bedford of Stratford, several loving nieces and nephews and her four cherished grandchildren Mark, Brad, Nicole and Jenna. Helen was predeceased by her brother Stanley Uzarski. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Helen's Life will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment will be held in the Spring in the family plot at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:30 am until the beginning of the service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the American Lung Association, PO Box 7000 Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001.
