Irene Kann

Irene Rey Kann, age 80, of the Huntington section of Shelton, Christianted, St. Croix, USVI and Penrose, NC, the beloved wife of 59 years to John Saul Kann, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Transylvania Regional Hospital, Brevard, NC, after a short illness. She was born in North Providence, RI on April 5, 1930, beloved daughter of the late Paul and Marie Orwick Rey. Irene was a former communicant of St. Lawrence Church of Huntington and was Past President of the Rosary Society. She attended Bryant College of North Providence, RI and Sacred Heart University of Bridgeport. Irene was a retired Training Supervisor for AT&T of New Haven and was also a Book Editor for several professors at the University of St. Croix. Irene enjoyed cooking and was an avid homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and many friends and will be sadly missed by all. Irene's loving family, in addition to her husband John, includes her son Kevin C. Kann and his wife Linda of the Huntington Section of Shelton, her loving sister Nancy Kerrigan and her husband Paul of Littleton, MA, her four cherished grandchildren Tamra French of Naugatuck, Jeffery Weaver and his wife Prudence of Oxford, Sarah Martino and her husband Anthony of Shelton and Jessie Kann of Shelton, and her four cherished great grandchildren Anthony and Angelena Martino and Chloe and Jeffery Weaver. She was predeceased by her beloved sons John A. Kann and Brian E. Kann and her devoted brother Paul Rey. A Prayer Service in Celebration of Irene's life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 260 Bank St (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Expressions of Sympathy in Irene's memory may be made to St George Village Botanical Gardens, through the funeral home.
