Irene S. Raffey

Irene S. Raffey, age 86, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Arthur H. Raffey, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was born in Seymour on November 18, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Stahura. Irene was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd who had retired after a long career as a teacher with the Seymour Public Schools. She volunteered at the polls on election day, was an Eucharist Minister with the church and loved to dance, especially with her late husband Arthur. Most of all, "Big G" as Irene was known by her family, loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Irene's beloved family includes her loving daughters Judith Raffey, Loretta Lacasse and her husband Jean-Paul and Mary Raffey and her longtime boyfriend Philip Cancelli, her cherished grandchildren Lisa Eggers and her husband Christopher and Mark Routhier, her cherished great grandchildren Maxwell, Maria, Nathan and Gianna and many caring nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Irene's life will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment, in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour will follow. There will be no visitation.
