James O'Dell

James Kevin O'Dell, 85, of Seymour, died peacefully at his home Monday July 2, 2012 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie (Mooney), his children Mary Ann (Thomas) Meehan of Burlington, Kevin O'Dell of Seymour, James (Anne) O'Dell of Beacon Falls, and John (Janet) O'Dell of Cheshire; grandchildren Brendan and Bridget Meehan; Jack O'Dell, and Patrick and Andrew O'Dell, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents and three siblings. A native of Derby and a long-time resident of Seymour, he worked for Farrell Corporation in Ansonia for 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52, attaining the rank of corporal, and in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1952-56. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 'directly' at St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Ave, Seymour on Saturday July 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment in the family plot at Mount St. Peter Cemetery to follow. Friends and relatives may call on Friday July 6, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' Seymour (opposite Klarides Village). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans' Administration Hospital, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT 06516, or the American Cancer Society, 1075 Chase Pkwy # 1075 Waterbury.
