Janice Miner, age 87, of Harwington, formerly of Oxford, entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Derby on February 3, 1928, the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence C. and Lillian Pope James. Janice was a Color Separator for the Chemical Color Plate of Bridgeport. She was a avid reader that enjoyed working with her hands, especially loving to knit and crochet. Janice was active at the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational teaching Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Fair Group. She greatly enjoyed nature and love to watch the birds on the feeder each day. Janice will be sadly missed by her family and friends and will forever by in their hearts. Her loving family includes her cherished son Donald Miner, her niece Susan Rose and her nephew Lawrence C. James, III. Janice was predeceased by her brother Lawrence C. James, Jr. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Janice's life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational, 3 Academy Road, Oxford. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Saint Peter's Episcopal Cemetery, Governors Hill Road, Oxford. In lieu of flowers donations in Janice's memory may be made to the either the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational.
