Jean Audrey Rice Brown

Jean Audrey Rice Brown, age 91, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late Richard Nash Brown, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Glastonbury Healthcare. She was born in Woburn, MA on April 6, 1931, loving daughter of the late Albert and Helena Jessop Rice. Jean was an active member of the Oxford United Church of Christ-Congregational and was a former church clerk. She was a volunteer at Griffin Hospital for many years and was a member of the Trumbull Women's Club. Jean was an avid homemaker, enjoyed watching General Hospital, gardening, ceramics and loved dogs. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and many friends. Jean will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her two sons Ronald Brown and his wife Sue Ann of St. Mary's, GA and Timothy Brown and his wife Melanie of Cape Charles, VA, her two daughters Leslie Mattos and her husband Ken of Zionsville, PA and Patricia Driscoll and her fianc David Fuini of East Hartford, her eight cherished grandchildren, eleven cherished great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Sophie. Jean was predeceased by her brother Christopher Rice. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Jean's life will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Oxford United Church of Christ-Congregational, 3 Academy Road, Oxford with the Rev. Karen Jodice, officiating. All other services are private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Jean's memory may be made to the Oxford United Church of Christ-Congregational or to the Connecticut Human Society, both through the funeral home.
