Joanne Miles

Joanne Barclay Miles, age 85, the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Richard Hall Miles entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was born in Glen Moore, PA on August 3, 1929, daughter of the late Ivan, Sr. and Lillie Miller Barclay. Joanne was a devout communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church of Seymour. She was a Customer Service Manager of the Kerite Company and a Customer Service Representative for the New Haven Register having retired from both companies. Joanne attended the University of New Haven and Fairfield University. She was a 4-H Club Leader of Bubbling Brook while residing in Skowhegan, ME and was a Den Mother of Pack 30 Housatonic Council, Boy Scouts of America. At Trinity Church she was coordinator of the Prayer Shawl and White Envelope Ministries. Her loving family includes her sons, Michael R. Benner (Donna) of Madison, ME, Jay R. Benner (Denise) of Greenville, SC, and Mitchell C. Miles of Southbury, Richard I.B. Miles (Donna) of Rochester, NH; daughters the Rev. Pattiann Bennett (Bruce) of Eureka, MT, and Paula Lenkeit (Chris) of Stratford, CT; eight cherished grandchildren; eight cherished great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers Jay Barclay and Ivan Barclay, Jr. and her sister Dorothy Barclay. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Joanne's life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm (DIRECTLY) at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church Street, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Honeybrook, PA. will be at the convenience of the family.
