John Daniel Steinis, age 86, of Beacon Falls, formerly of Oxford, the beloved husband of 63 years to Julia A. Hicock Steinis entered into rest on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Oxford, on January 9, 1932, the son of the late John and Mary Kluczinsky Steinis. John was a member of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church and served on the Prudential Committee. He served as a Constable for the Town of Oxford. John proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was member of The American Legion Post #25 of Beacon Falls. John operated his own electrical contracting business for many years. He was a member of The National Rifle Association and had worked at The Connecticut Park and Forest. John enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed nature and walking. John loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank all of the aides who worked with John showing increased compassion with his deteriorating condition especially Cindy, Johnny, Jodie ,Vanessa, Jill and Beth. In addition to his beloved wife Julia, his loving family includes his three sons Peter A. Steinis (Peg) of Thomaston, Thomas Steinis of Naugatuck and Matthew S. Steinis (Samantha) of Roxbury , daughter Aletha Abbott (Lance) of Litchfield, a brother Richard E. Steinis (Evelyn) of Shelton, six grandchildren Amanda Abbott O'Connell, Douglas C. Abbott, Corinne Steinis Maffei, Alexa Steinis, Jason Steinis and Nathan Steinis, and three great grandchildren Hunter , Damien and Natalie. A Memorial Service in Celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at The Beacon Falls Congregational Church, 69 Wolfe Ave, Beacon Falls, CT., with The Reverend David Brown, Pastor officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church. Interment in the family plot at Southford Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of John may be made to The Beacon Falls Congregational Church Memorial Fund, through the funeral home. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour, is compassionately caring for the family.
