John Dolyak

John (Jack) C. Dolyak, age 73, of Seymour, formerly of Huntington, the beloved husband of 50 years of Maragrayce (Maggie) Smith Dolyak, entered into eternal rest at his home on Friday, May 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Stratford on August 10, 1937, beloved son of the late John E. and Helen Grich Dolyak and his late step-father George Boehm. Jack was a self employed contractor and founded Huntington Home Improvement which he had owned and operated for over 40 years. He is a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour and was a member of the Men's Club and the Rosary Society of the church. Jack was a graduate of Stratford High School, attended Paul Smith College of New York and had played semi-pro baseball for the college. He was a Lance Corporal with the United States Marine Corps and served during the Cuban Crisis at the Bay of Pigs and was a member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion of Seymour. Jack was a Commissioner of the Shelton Little League and was a long time Little League and Pony League coach. He was a member of the Seymour Land Trust and the East End Yacht Club of Bridgeport. Jack also enjoyed spending time in the garden, hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Jack's loving family in addition to his wife Maggie includes his caring son Michael E. Dolyak and Lisa of Newtown, his loving daughter Debbie Sherman and her husband John of Oxford, his cherished grandchildren Meghan Dolyak, Hunter Dolyak, Matthew Sherman and Amy Sherman, his brother Robert Dolyak of Huntington, his two sisters Mary Ann Lamson of Huntington and Dorothy Rooney of Huntington and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Jack's life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour with the Rev. Edward S. Jaksina, Celebrating the Mass. Interment, with full military honors accorded, will follow at the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
