John "Jack" Koerkel

John (Jack) Barrett Koerkel,III, age 70, of Seymour, the beloved husband of 47 years to Marcy Drozd Koerkel entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Mary Hospital, Waterbury surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 21, 1941 son of the late Orville and Helena Romaine Koerkel. Jack was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and was a graduate of Sayreville, NJ High School class of 1959 and Monmouth University class of 1964 where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was formerly employed as a Senior Buyer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, a Sales Associate at Healey Ford in Ansonia and had worked for People's United Bank in Trumbull and retired from the Seymour branch of the Bank. Jack was a former member of the Town of Seymour Sewer Commission, coached girls Little League, was an avid Yankees and Giants fan, enjoyed NASCAR racing and loved his granddog Max. He was a Seymour resident for 47 years. His loving family in addition to his wife Marcy includes his beloved son John B. Koerkel, IV of Seymour, his loving daughter Holly Hulse and her husband Scott of Ansonia and his three cherished grandchildren Kenneth, Christopher and Stephanie Hulse. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Vitas and especially Linda for the loving care given to Jack. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Jack's life will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 9:30 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 am until the start of the service at 9:30 am. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers in Jack's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society, 1075 Chase Parkway #1075, Waterbury, CT.
