John Saul Kann, age 88, of the Huntington section of Shelton, formerly of Penrose, NC and Christianted, St. Croix, USVI, the beloved husband of the late Irene Rey Kann, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Bishop Wicke Health Center of Shelton. He was born in Bridgeport on May 27, 1925, beloved son of the late August and Anna Saul Kann. John was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church of Huntington and was a graduate of Bryant College of Rhode Island with a degree in Accounting. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II, holding the rank of Radioman, 3rd Class on board the LSM 51. After the war, John served as a member of the Naval Reserve. He was the retired Maintenance Director for the YMCA of Easton. John enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family and many friends. He will be missed by all. John's loving family includes his caring son Kevin C. Kann and his wife Linda of the Huntington section of Shelton, his loving sister Marion Bussman of Cheshire, his cherished grandchildren Tamra French of Naugatuck, Jeffery Weaver and his wife Prudence of Oxford, Sarah Martino and her fianc Philip Gallagher of Shelton and Jessie Kann of Shelton, his four cherished great-grandchildren Anthony and Angelena Martino and Chloe and Jeffery Weaver and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved sons John A. Kann and Brian E. Kann and his brother William Kann. John's family would like to thank the caring staff of Bishop Wicke Heath Center for their love and compassion shown during his stay with them. All funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' Seymour (opposite Klarides Village) is caring for the family.
