Joseph Arascunaga

"Joseph Arascunaga, Jr., age 85, of Oxford, CT, passed away on January 27, 2025, in the cherished home that he built.

Joseph was born on April 12, 1939, in New York, NY, to Joseph Arascunaga Sr. and Ana Arascunaga. He grew up in Pawling, NY, and started his adult life in Stamford, CT, before eventually settling in Oxford, CT. A well-known electrician in the community, Joseph took great pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years.

Proud of his Spanish heritage, Joseph had a deep love for history, mystery novels, and soccer. He was an avid supporter of the Spanish national team and never missed an El Clásico match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Arascunaga; his children, Marceille Ashton, Melissa Cerulli (Stephen), Melinda D’Onofrio (Jeff), Monique Arascunaga, and Joseph Carl Arascunaga (Rebecca); nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Carmen Miranda; and his niece, Roberta LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Ana Arascunaga, and his niece, Nanette Snyder. He was a man who captured the attention and awe of his beloved children, and his creative storytelling will be entirely missed.
