Joseph P. Samoker, 99 & 8 months, of Southbury, entered peaceful rest on Sunday, April 27, 2014, with his loving daughter by his side. The beloved husband of 61 years to the late Marion Miles Samoker. He was born in Seymour on September 5, 1914 to his parents Stanley J. and Josephine Mazorkiwich Samoker. He and his wife resided in Oxford for many years before moving to Woodbury. Joe, as everyone called him, worked at the Naugatuck Chemical in the shipping and packaging department until his retirement in 1967. He loved his "Dolly" wife most of all. Cherished his cars and his red motorcycle and always polished them to a bright shine. He loved nature and he also enjoyed fishing in his earlier years. Joe will be remembered for his unique sense of humor which was usually off color. His favorite saying was the first hundred years are the hardest. Besides his daughter, Marion (Becky) Beardsley and her husband John (Jack), he is survived by six caring grandchildren Denise Amundson and her husband Martin, Jonathan M. Beardsley and his wife Danielle, David W. Samoker and his wife Allison, Dana T. Beardsley and his wife Tara, Hannah R. Polvere and her husband John and Danielle Samoker. He also leaves ten cherished great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David W. Samoker, three brothers Stanley, Benjamin and Thomas, and two sisters, Helen and Bertha Samoker. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, September 5, 2014 on which would of been Joseph's 100 th Birthday, at The Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational, 3 Academy Rd., Oxford, with Pastor Gale Grayson,officiating. Interment followed in Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Donations may be made to The Lutheran Home, 990 Main St. , Southbury,CT 06408, where Joe resided for 8 years and where he made many friends and received excellent care or to The Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational, 3 Academy Rd, Oxford,CT 06478, where he was a member.
