Joseph Simbolick Sr. age 89 of Sanford, FL., a former longtime Seymour resident and business owner, the beloved husband of the late Cora Wardowski Simbolick, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Atria at Lake Forest, Sanford, FL., surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1923, in Shenandoah, PA. ,he was the son of the late Simon and Anna Plakson Simbolick. Joseph was the former Owner of the United Cigar Store and Joe's Liquor Store of Seymour. Joseph moved to Boynton Beach, FL., in 1973 and after a short retirement he bought and operated the Bagel Nitch Restaurant in Lake Worth, FL. He was a former communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 1/2 years during WWII attaining the rank of T-5 and saw action in the Bismarck, Archipelago Luzun Campaigns and The Battle of Guadalcanal. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a life member of the Emil Senger #10 American Legion, Seymour,the V.F.W. Post #1050, Boynton Beach,FL, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19, Lake Worth, FL. He was also an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus #53, Seymour. And was a retired Captain in the 2nd Company Governor's Foot Guard, New Haven. His loving family includes his son Joseph Simbolick Jr. and his wife Heidi of Sanford, FL. and his daughter Sharon Coleman and her husband Edward of Ridgefield, two caring sisters Mary Scibek of Seymour and Helen Dixon of Middletown, four loving grandchildren Kristen and Jessica Coleman ,Holly Dvorsky and John Simbolick, and two cherished great-grandchildren Hailey and William Dvorsky. He was predeceased by a brother Walter Simbolick and a sister Anne Krivda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held (Directly) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment with Full Military Honors provided by the American Legion Emil Senger Post #10 will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' Seymour (opposite Klarides Village). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Joseph's memory to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 2201 Lucien Way (Suite 100) Maitland, FL., 32751.
