Josephine Theresa Fanizzi, age 83, of Oxford, formerly of Trumbull, the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Fanizzi, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was born in Corona, NY on June 3, 1930, beloved daughter of the late William and Carmella Vignato Solomito. Josephine was a devout communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford and formerly had been a communicant at The Church of Christ the King in Trumbull. She moved to Oxford from Trumbull nine years ago. Josephine was an avid homemaker who did custom floral arrangements from her home. She loved to cook, loved swimming at the beach and especially loved taking care of her cherished grandchildren. The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to the Second Floor General Medicine Staff of Griffin Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Josephine. Josephine's family includes her caring daughter Jeanne Fanizzi of Shelton, her cherished grandchildren Melissa and Nicole Borowy of Shelton, her cherished great grandson Bradley Borowy, her loving nephews Robert and Thomas Fanizzi and her devoted cousin Lee DiClemente of East Patchogue, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour will follow. There will be no visitation. Memorial gifts in Josephine's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home of Seymour is caring for the family.
