Juri Koslov

Juri "Papa Bear" Koslov, age 72, of Oxford, beloved husband of Erika Adler Koslov passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Kiev, Ukraine on February 17, 1942, coming to the U.S. in 1949 at the age of 7. Juri was predeceased by his parents, Vladimir and Helena Danylevich Koslov. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Class of 1965 and was the recipient of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Juri worked as an Aeronautical Engineer for Boeing in Seattle, WA; Avco Lycoming/Textron in Stratford, CT; and Honeywell of Phoenix, AZ. where he resided for several years before retirement and returning to Oxford, his home since 1969. Juri was an avid fisherman and loved his boats and the ocean. In addition to his loving wife Erika, he leaves three daughters, Larica Carini and husband Stephen of No. Stonington; Erika Koslov-Davino and husband David of No. Stonington; Karen Barski and husband Stanislaw (Stash) of Trumbull; sister Irene and husband Dr. Frank Letcher of Tulsa, OK.; mother-in-law Rosa Adler of New Haven; former son-in-law James Burr of Cheshire; and grandchildren Morgan and Kaia Burr, Bella'Mar, Bryce and Brody Barski; Donovan, Dylan, and Ava Davino; Clayton, Stephen Jr. and Aida Carini; nieces, nephews and his beloved lap dogs, Scruffy and Rosie. The family thanks Dr. Joel Zaretzky, Griffin Hospital physicians and staff, Davita of Shelton, Oxford Ambulance, Oxford Senior Center and Community Car volunteers for their patience and compassion during his illness.A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on October 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferry Slip Marina Clubhouse, 112 Pequot Ave, New London, CT.
