Louis P. Fiore

Louis P. Fiore, age 93, beloved husband of Dorothy Haskell Fiore, passed away peacefully at home in Oxford, CT on September 14, 2017. Born on June 29, 1924 in Ansonia, CT, he was the son of the late Gondolfo and Michelina Russo Fiore. Louis joined the US Navy during WWII and was stationed on the USS Block Island for a tour of duty. After the war, he graduated from UCONN with a degree in Civil Engineering and in 1950 began his long career at the New Haven Water Company, now South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority. He retired in 1988, after 37 years of dedicated work both in the office and on the field, and was known as a true gentleman and an excellent engineer. Louis was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford, CT. His patience, kindness, willingness to help, and love of fixing things for his extended family brought him great joy and endeared him to all. He was a true family man in every way and will remain forever in our hearts. Louis is survived by his daughter Ellen Schneider and her husband Stephen of Oxford, CT, daughter Mary Girard and her husband Dennis of North Eastham, MA, and daughter Anne Fiore of Longmont, CO, as well as three grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Rose of Ansonia, CT, and sister-in-law Joan Fiore of Derby. He was predeceased by his brother Michael of Derby, CT in 2008 and John of Oxford, CT in 2015. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Louis' Life will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:00 am in The Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment will follow in the family plot at Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until the beginning of the service at 10:00 am.
