Detective Louis Byrne Yustin, Ret. Seymour Police Department, age 59, of Seymour, the beloved husband of 35 years to Patricia Jean Simmons Yustin, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby on August 13, 1953, beloved son of the late John, Sr. and Josephine Croncota Yustin. Lou was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour. He began his career in law enforcement as an Auxiliary State Police Trooper from May 1972 through September 1977. Lou became a Seymour Police Department Supernumerary on September 9, 1977 and became a full time Patrolman on December 14, 1981. He was appointed and proudly served as a Detective with the Seymour Police Department from April 1, 1987 until his retirement on December 15, 2011. Lou loved to fish, hunt and scratch lottery tickets. He was an avid golfer, loved to mow his lawn and loved the outdoors, especially Vermont. Lou loved being with his friends and especially his family. He will be sadly missed by all in the community that he greatly enjoyed serving for many years. Lou's loving family in addition to his wife Patricia includes his beloved son Jeremy Yustin of Seymour and his fiance Nicole Gardner, his caring daughters Kellyjo Yustin of Seymour and Melanie Bryzicki and her husband Robert of Seymour, his devoted brothers John Yustin, Jr and his wife Jennifer of Vermont and David Yustin and his wife Suzi of Vermont, his loving sister Deborah Pinto of Rhode Island, his cherished grandson Noah Louis Yustin of Seymour and several loving nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by his beloved brother Charles Yustin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 'directly' at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery will follow. Friends and relatives may call on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' Seymour (opposite Klarides Village). Members of the Seymour Police Department will honor their brother Lou during all of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Seymour Land Trust Legion Pool Fund, 13 Chatfield Street, Seymour, CT 06483.
