LTC Howard Milton Belinsky US Army (Ret), age 81, of Oxford, the beloved husband of 53 years to Evelyn Aderhold Belinsky, entered into rest peacefully on Monday June 13, 2016 at the CT Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven. He was born in New Haven on January 16, 1935 to the late Samuel and Mary Behuniak Belinsky. Howard was a decorated US Army Infantry officer for 27 years, with three tours in Vietnam. He received numerous medals including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, four Air Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star and the State of Connecticut Medal of Merit. After retirement from service to his country, Howard managed his family farm in Oxford, and showed his love for many residents of the area with gifts of apples, peaches and other produce grown on the farm. He was an active member of the David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion of Oxford, the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion of Seymour, VFW Post 12084 of Seymour, and the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oxford. Howard leaves his loving wife Evelyn, three sons, Howard C. Belinsky with his wife Giovanna of Belleair, FL, Glenn S. Belinsky of Oxford, and LTC Mark D. Belinsky with his wife LTC Sunset Belinsky of Ft. Hood, TX, and six grandchildren. Howard was predeceased by his brother Dr. Samuel Belinsky. A funeral service with Military Honors in celebration of Howard's Life will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 10 AM DIRECTLY at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Rd., Oxford. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The wake will be held at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Rt 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Friday, June 17 from 4-8 PM.
