Lydia Hafersat, age 94, of Seymour, entered into rest peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Gardner Heights Health Care of Shelton. She was born in Seymour on July 12, 1916, daughter of the late August and Natalie Semmler Hafersat. Lydia was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oxford. She was a life long Seymour resident and was employed for many years as a Supervisor at the Homer Bronson Company of Beacon Falls, where she was a member of the steel workers union. Lydia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading and playing bingo. She was a member of the Seymour Senior Center, enjoyed being out doors and was an avid walker. Lydia is survived by her loving sister Helen Gundersen of Seymour, her devoted nephews Fred Gundersen of South Pomfret, VT and David Gundersen and his partner Jeffrey Matthews of Seymour. She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Otto Hafersat and her brother in law Arnold Gundersen. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Lydia's life will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road, Oxford with the Rev. Bruce Steinway, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Lydia's memory may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road, Oxford, CT 06478 or any charity of your choice.
