Mary Jean Michel-Marchitto

Mary Jean Michel-Marchitto, age 60, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 23 years to the late David J. Marchitto, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2016. She was born in Derby on June 10, 1956, daughter of the late Edward and Fern Michel. Mary Jean was a graduate of Ansonia High School. She received a degree in Nursing from the University of Bridgeport, a Masters degree in Education from Cambridge College and her Acupuncture License from Pacific College of New York. Mary Jean took great joy in helping and providing support for others especially in her work. She was a RN and the former Head Administrative Nurse at Griffin Hospital, Vice President of the Birmingham Group and a Professor at Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac University. Mary Jean also had her own Acupuncture Practice. She was a very compassionate person with a strong sense of community and an amazing heart. Mary Jean loved nothing more than to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts. Her loving family includes her devoted daughter Kristi Lynn Hofsess and her husband Glenn of Brookfield and her cherished grandchildren, Parker, Landon and Anna. A Celebration of Life Service will be offered for Mary Jean on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton will follow the service. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial gifts in memory of Mary Jean may be made to The Griffin Hospital Healing Garden to help promote a private, quiet space for meditation or reflection through the funeral home.
