Mary S. Scibek
October 27, 1920 — August 24, 2016
Mary (Simbolick) Scibek, age 95, of Seymour, the beloved wife to the late Norman E. Scibek, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Hewitt Health &Rehab Center, Shelton. She was born in Shenandoah, PA. on October 27, 1920, daughter of the late Simon and Anna Plakson Simbolick. Mary was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a waitress at Ted's Spa and was a Clerk at United Cigar, both of Seymour for many years. Mary was an avid homemaker who loved to cook, crochet and read. She moved to Seymour from Shenandoah in 1939. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and many friends. Mary will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her devoted son David M. Scibek of Seymour, her dear friend Betty Chatfield Brosius of Brewster, NY and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her three brothers Alexander Simbolick, Joseph Simbolick, Sr. and Walter Simbolick and her two sisters Anna Krivda and Helen Dixon. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 9:15 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (opposite Klarides Village, Rt. 67) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd. Seymour. Interment in the family plot will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 am until the start of the services. Memorial gifts may be made in Mary's memory to The Church of the Good Shepherd Improvement Fund, through the funeral home.
