He was appointed Athletic Director at Seymour High School in 1985 and served in that position for 14 yrs, before retiring in 1999. Under his direction, many of Seymour High School's athletic teams qualified for the state tournaments and were successful in winning several. Mike was the head baseball coach at Seymour High School from 1983-1986, and in his first year he guided the Wildcats to a quarter final contest. His teams qualified for the state tournament in two of his three years as head baseball coach, with a compiled record of 25-16. He also served as an assistant football coach at Seymour Junior High and High School for 10 years. Mike was a longtime member of St. Michael's RC Church, Beacon Falls, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Aurora Council #53. He enjoyed many things, such as swimming, biking, and traveling all over the world with his wife, where they made friends wherever they went. He looked forward to their annual trips to Cape Hatteras with the Hatteras Gang. Every year, Mike and his wife also spent several weeks with their friends in Aruba, where the group would take turns getting up at the crack of dawn to win a spot under a hut. Mike loved animals, and was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees, UCONN Women's Basketball, and Notre Dame. He will be sadly missed but will remain forever in our hearts. In addition to his beloved wife Jeanette, his loving family includes his son Michael K. Mudry of Newington, his daughter Michelle Lipar and her husband David of Simsbury, five cherished grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Thomas.
