Myrtle P. Rowland

Myrtle P. Rowland, age 85, of Oxford, beloved wife of 65 years to Frederick N. Rowland, Sr., entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Raphael Hospital. She was born in Seymour on September 11, 1929 beloved daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Marks Potter. Myrtle was a devout communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Oxford, where she served as a warden, historian, and member of the vestry. Myrtle was a 4-H Leader of the club Cookies and Carburetors. She was a member of the Grange for over 50 years and a member of The Oxford Historical Society. Frederick and Myrtle graciously donated the land on which the Rowland-Twitchell Homestead is located. Myrtle enjoyed quilting and was an avid geneologist. In addition to her beloved husband Frederick, Myrtle is survived by three devoted sons, Dr. Frederick N. Rowland and his wife Barbara of Arlington, MA., Charles E. Rowland and his wife Karen of Oxford, and Gordon P. Rowland and his wife Anne Stork of Ithaca, NY, a caring sister Jane Tuttle of Seymour, four loving grandchildren, Heather C. Keith-Lucas and her husband Darwin, Geoffrey N. Rowland and his wife Erin, Elizabeth Rowland and Haley Rowland, two cherished great-grandchildren, Caleb N. Keith-Lucas and Connor N. Rowland and several nieces and nephews. Myrtle was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, Robert, Floyd and Lloyd Potter, a sister, Edith Chellis, and a great-grandson, Noah E. Keith-Lucas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 421 Oxford Rd., Oxford, with Reverend Ellen Donnelly officiating. Interment in the family plot at Southford Cemetery, Oxford will follow.
