Pietro Fata

Pietro Graziano Fata, age 87, of Oxford, the beloved husband of the late Rosaria Magaro Fata, entered into eternal rest on Sunday August 29, 2010 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rose, Italy on July 2, 1923, son of the late Francesco and Angelina Moretti Fata. Pietro was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour. He served in the Italian Air force during World War II for four years and was stationed in Bari, Italy. Pietro retired as a Machine Operator for the Charlton Press Company of Derby. He has been a resident of Oxford for 33 years having moved there from Italy on May 7, 1977. Pietro was an avid conscientious gardener, loved picking mushrooms and enjoyed sharing a glass of home made wine with his family. He loved spending time with family, especially his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. His loving family includes his devoted son Francesco Fata and his wife Viola of Seymour, his loving daughters Angelina Perri and her husband Gaetano of Seymour, Carmelina Cufone and her husband Rocco of Oxford with whom he made his home and Silvana Gianni and her husband Gaetano of Seymour, his three beloved brothers Mario Fata, Davide Fata and Benito Fata, all of Italy, his caring sister Letizia Fata of Italy, his ten cherished grandchildren Rosaria Oliphant, Giovanna Franchi, Sonya Fata, Geno Cufone, Pietro Fata, Sabina DiCostanzo, Rocco Cufone, Maria Pia Preci, Lorenzo Gianni and Rosaria Perri, his nine cherished great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving brother Giuseppe Fata and his beloved sister Marcella Fata. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Pietro's life will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 9:30 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour will follow. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
