Rachel Stapleton

Rachel Stapleton, age 86, a long time resident of Seymour, passed away, under the loving care of her family and Allegiance Hospice on March 3, 2012 at Summit Park Assisted Living Center, Jackson, Michigan. Rachel was born in Gray's Knob, Kentucky, October 16, 1925, the daughter of William H. and Mary Ida (Ball) Murdock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jack, a daughter, Janice Pauza and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are a son, Ken (Peg) Stapleton of Jackson, Michigan, three grandchildren, Jennifer van Savage of Hoboken, N.J., Sean (Vandana) Stapleton of Kigali, Rwanda and Courtney (David) Reiser of Springfield, Virginia, seven great grandchildren, her sister, Lucille (Curtis) Parsons of Onsted, Michigan, her brother-in-law Mearill Stapleton of Wells, Vermont, her sisters -in-law Florence Murdock of Beacon Falls, and Marilyn Stapleton of Wells, Vermont and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and greatly enjoyed nature, music and watching the Boston Red Sox. Funeral services were held March 9, 2012 in Seymour, Connecticut with Interment at Mountain Meadows Cemetery.
