Rachelle Jackaline Abbey

Rachelle (Rae) Jackaline Abbey, age 80, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Genesis Healthcare The Willows of Woodbridge. She was born in Bridgeport on July 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Abraham and Shirley Levy Sherman. She was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport and had attended the UCONN School of Business. Rae was formerly employed by the Great Country Bank of Ansonia and The Oronoque Country Club of Stratford. She was a breast cancer survivor and volunteered at Griffin Hospital for many years. Rae was very active within the Seymour community she was a member of the Great Hill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, she volunteered at Bungay Elementary School as a mentor and was also an enthusiastic member of the Red Hats. She was a mother figure to many and was a host mother to former AFS Exchange Student Kim McKinnon of Australia. Rae will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. Rae's loving family includes her caring daughter Alissa Williams of Seymour, her brother Robert Sherman (Lorraine) of New Jersey, two cherished grandchildren Sierra and Damian Williams of Seymour, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Leonora Bachar. Services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
