Richard Paul Bedan

Richard Paul Bedan, age 75, of Bethany, the beloved husband of 51 1/2 years of Dorothy Coleman Bedan, entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 16, 2022. He was born in Detroit, son of the late Clarence and Leone Zimmer Bedan. He earned a BA in Greek Studies from Georgetown University prior to obtaining his Masters in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. He moved from New Albany, IN to Connecticut in 1969. Richard was a Special Needs Teacher for the Milford Board of Education and worked at Simon Lake School for many years. Richard was a devout communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Woodbridge. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and hiking with his family, wood splitting, skiing and beer making. Most of all, Richard loved to spend time with his family and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family, in addition to his wife Dottie, includes his three sons Mark G. Bedan (Caroline) of New Milford, Erik S. Bedan (Connie) of Willington and Kevin P. Bedan (Sarah) of Wallingford, his daughter Stephanie J. Bedan of Canaan, his two brothers David Bedan (Nancy) of Columbia, MO and Daniel Bedan (Patricia) of Cincinnati, OH, his eight cherished grandchildren Olivia, Matthew, Annelise, Kaelin, Molly, Connor, Jacob and Edward as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Richard's life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road in Woodbridge. All guests must wear a mask at the church service. Interment will be private. There will be no visitation.
