Robert Foster

Robert H. Foster, age 86, of Oxford the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Olsen Foster entered into rest on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, Derby surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby, CT on October 12, 1927 the beloved son of the late Harry and Mildred Senger Foster. Bob was a communicant of Christ Church Quaker Farms, Oxford. He was President of the Seymour Trust Company for many years. He was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1945 and was president of his class and co-captain of the basketball team. Bob was a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking and Williams College. He worked at the post office before going into the Army in 1952 and was stationed at the Boston Army Base during the Korean War. Bob had a strong love for the Town of Seymour. He was past treasurer of Trinity Church of Seymour and past treasurer for the Town of Seymour. He was chairman of the Board of Finance for the Town of Seymour. Bob was a member of the Citizens Engine Company of Seymour. He was chairman of the Oxford Economic Commission. Bob was chairman of the Community Bankers Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Bankers Association. Bob was treasurer of the Brookside Cemetery Association. He was treasurer of the Seymour/Oxford Rotary Club and was recipient of the Paul Harris Award. Bob will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His loving family includes his caring sons Thomas R. Foster of Oxford and Wayne H. Foster of Seymour and his three cherished grandchildren Johnathan, Melissa and Lauren Foster and two cherished great-grandchildren Aaliyah Foster and Cameron Aiello and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his sister Joyce Godkin. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Bob's life will be offered on Thursday, October 31 at 11:00 A.M. DIRECTLY at Christ Church Quaker Farms, 470 Quaker Farms Rd. Oxford with Father John Donnelly officiating. Interment with Military Honors being accorded at Brookside Cemetery Oxford. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, October 30 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (opposite Klarides Village, Rt. 67) Seymour. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Bob's memory may be made to the Robert Foster Family through the funeral home.
