Roberta Jean Blakeman Kaempfer

Roberta Jean Blakeman Kaempfer, 91, formerly of Monroe, CT, died after a brief illness on June 18, 2018, in Shelton, CT. She was born in Bridgeport on April 24, 1927, attended Monroe Elementary School, and graduated from Bridgeport's Bassick High School in 1945. Since 2001 she resided at Wesley Heights-United Methodist Home in Shelton CT. She was fiercely independent, had a notable sense of humor, a remarkable memory, loved her family and friends, and was a life-long member of Monroe United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, William Arthur Kaempfer, Jr., parents, Vera Medora Hubbell and David Thornton Blakeman, siblings Vivian Millard, Sterling and Robert Blakeman, and their respective spouses. Survivors include daughters, Pamela Kaempfer (Naugatuck, CT), and Marcia Becker (Seymour, CT); five grandchildren, Tina McSweeney (Waxhaw, NC), Heather Phaneuf (Naugatuck, CT), Matthew Hofmiller, Jr. (Bedford, NY), Brian Becker (Cambridge, MA), and Bianca Becker (Boulder, CO); five great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. A memorial service for family and friends will occur at 10:30am on Saturday August 4 at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutlers Farm Road, Monroe, CT.
